Westwood Middle School, home of the Warriors, prides itself on tradition, excellence, community involvement and diversity.
The original buildings were known as Westwood Junior High school and are over 55 years old. In 1993 it was transformed into Westwood Middle School.
The school still reflects much of the original infrastructure with covered walk ways outside and classrooms that open to the outside walk ways. But through the years it has grown larger, with many changes and improvements taking place. To accommodate the growth, 16 portable classroom buildings were added.
In 2019 it was announced that they will be a getting a new gymnasium building. Westwood has functioned with only outdoor gym & sports activities all these years, so they are excited to finally offer their students and faculty a big, beautiful gymnasium, which they hope will draw more sporting events to their school as well. The new gym is scheduled to open in Fall 2020.
Westwood is also home of the Mary Coe Media Center, which was built in 1988 and named in honor of the first secretary of Westwood, Mary Coe, who retired in 1985. It features 3 computer labs and a large library for the students and faculty to use.
